INSTANT OATMEAL COOKIES [10 MINUTES]
Here’s an idea for anyone that has ever fantasized about turning their instant oatmeal into an oatmeal cookie. The texture is different than a baked cookie, and almost resembles that of a chewy granola bar, but it’s great for a quick fix, and easily modified for any flavor oatmeal cookie (I recommend peanut butter)—and all you need is sugar, milk, butter, instant oatmeal and 10 minutes (5 if you’re as quick as I am).
Ingredients:
1 packet instant oatmeal (50g) *note: this means TWO Quaker Instant Oatmeal packets
1/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp butter
optional: to modify, add 1 tsp peanut butter, any dried fruit, bananas, nuts, coconut, etc. Using already flavored oatmeal packets is a great idea in theory, but I am concerned about the cookies turning out too sweet. I haven’t tried it, though, and it’s worth a shot.
Directions:
–In a saucepan, boil sugar, butter, and milk for 2 minutes (time this! It’s important for the viscosity of the mixture to be correct. Ask the chemists…)
–Reduce heat and add instant oatmeal packet. Stir until well-mixed and remove heat. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens, then pour onto wax paper or cookie sheet to cool.
–Enjoy!
marissa suggests substituting part or all brown sugar for white sugar.
Jr.>Good flavor if you use flavored oatmeal packets just use a little less sugar.
:] I made great cookies by taking instant oatmeal and adding only enough water to make the oatmeal into inch wide cookie balls. then you spray the pan and cook at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes — i make these all the time before school in a toaster oven —– add craisins and raisins and sugar on top BANANAS ARE PERFECT!! or whatever you like :D
note that all you need is water and the instant oatmeal :]
