THE WRONG REV. FISCHER [PODCAST]
I know it may be shocking to some to see a Monday podcast directly following a Friday one. This is mostly due to the restoration of my having of the Internet and my l33t bribery skills. The other excellent facet of this ‘cast is the connection between it and the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA. The West Coast Informant (Shawna Hollen) and the Dr. Hollencomium (Richmond Hollen) have been feeding me information about bands all day since yesterday. From their nearly incoherent torrent of garbled cell phone conversations, explanations of medical treatment, and overheard snatches of conversation I have condensed a small chorus of “bands that do not suck” and included them in this podcast. These bands include the outlandish Brits White Rose Movement, the nearly pornographic and probably Richmond interviewed The Octopus Project, and Brit-licious Editors (not THE Editors).
There are also contributions from The Mountain Goats specifically from the Going To series, The Flaming Lips, and not to mention the backwards speaking Fiery Furnaces who have produced a nearly accessible album that remains experimental… Bitter Tea.
That is all I have until Friday:
1) The Mountain Goats – Going To Bolivia – Sweden
2) The Mountain Goats – California Song – Sweden
3) The Fiery Furnaces – Black Hearted Boy – Bitter Tea
4) White Rose Movement – Love Is A Number – Kick
5) The Octopus Project – The Adjustor – One Ten Hundred Thousand
6) Editors – Someone Says – The Back Room (NOT *the* Editors… just Editors)
7) The Mountain Goats – Going To Georgia – Zopilote Machine
8) The Flaming Lips – Free Radicals – At War With The Mystics
8 songs!! This has to stop. As always you can reach the Rev. for any kind of comments, suggestions, corrections, denunciations, etc. @ rtrev -at- vdov -dot- net
There will be an interview of The Octopus Project. It will be a vdov exclusive since the paper will not run after this week.
Good work… I like how we get the exclusive only when the paper isn’t printed. Just letting us know exactly where we stand Mr. Hollen?
There will also be a joint Coachella post by the Hollens reviewing the shows. There will be pictures (ooooohh aaahhh).
This will not be a vdov exclusive as it will be going in the last issue of the pacifican, I believe. Richmond, when do you want to do this?
I will have my end of the review done tonight as it is the deadline for the Pacifican.
Andy, according to thefacebook.com, there is a Robert Peachey who is a grad-student at UChicago. I trust you will remedy this situation: Roman Catholic style. Send me his thumbs.
Thumbs? That is more like Lutheran style. The head will be in the mail.
